Comments:I was working on my genealogy, trying to find my grandfather's "Indian grandmother," when I Googled onto this site. Grandpa always said his grandmother was Cherokee, but she was born in Maryland, according to the census, and that didn't seem to fit. Now I am wondering if she was Piscataway. Are there genealogical resources available? Having looked a bit at this site, I would feel honored to find that she was indeed Piscataway.

Comments:Mark Tayac, Grand Entrance Dancer Mr. Evans (?), Josh, and Katie provided an outstanding dance performance today (Wednesday, September 19, 2007) as part of the World Dance Festival at The Community College of Baltimore County. Thank you so much for teaching us a little about the Piscataway culture. I appreciate so much the values of respect for our neighbors, both human and animal, and of living in balance. The dancing was great, and it was fun to be able to participate in the rabbit and snake dances. Thank you!

I hope information about the Piscataway Tribe can be obtained at the Visitors Center at the park. The general public needs to greatly appreciate those who were truly here before the Colonists!

Comments:I spent the first 18 years of my life in Baltimore and never knew that the native traditions were alive here. I am 25 now, and returned to discover this through Chief Billy's audio recordings at the Maryland Historical Society. I connected to the Leonard Peltier case website, and was disturbed by what I read there. I was a history major in college and never heard about the case, or much about the indigineous people. I have had my spirit world open up over the past 6 months, and have talked with a healer who has given me some guidance, but I am still seeking to understand some of my experiences: my visits in the dreamtime, the role of food in my sensitivty, and just a clear understanding of the more traditional ways. If you have any information, or know of a healer in the area, who may be helpful to talk to, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for your time, peace and love, Roy

If Chief Turkey saved the Pisactaway culture, I don't really care if Turkey Tayac came from Mars!!!

Within my survey I'd like to get the results of the questionnaire that I have just posted on the Internet - this would greatly help me in this research. The main idea is to ask American Indians their own opinion on several questions (the details are stated in the introductory words on the site). The procedure is very simple, it takes just a few minutes, plus it's anonymous. Thus, I do ask you for assistance: if you have anyone of American Indian descent among your friends, acquaintances, colleagues, fellow-students, neighbors, etc., please send them this link! And take part yourself! I would greatly appreciate your help! http://amerindians.siteburg.com/ If you want any reply or information - just leave your e-mail in the end in the "comments", and I'll gladly get in touch with you. Thanks to your website, I am now more informed about the great Chief. I can not imagine a more fitting tribute to Chief Turkey than having a road leading to a children's environmental education center named after him. I might add that there are few places that I have visited that are so stunningly beautiful. If our children learn love of the Earth, there is hope.

My 7 year old son used your info to write a little story about a bear who was preparing for winter and a sentence or two included Turkey Tayac as a friend of the bear so the story would have some realism. He was entranced by all your pictures. Thank you for teaching us something about our new home and sparking a little boy's imagination!!

It was an honor to be in the same space with the noble members of your people. Even though my ancestors have only been in this land for three generations, I profoundly feel shame for the way our european settlers, no invaders, of your land treated the first people of this country.I am moved to tears of joy to know that, through the centuries, you continue to carry on the traditions of your people...God the Creator's Blessings on you all Forever....Thank you.

Comments:Visiting Washington and came to the museum. Interested in more information about Piscataways. I have historical documentation that I haven't yet seen here yet. However, I will continue to look through the information you have available. I am the great (many generation) granddaughter of (not sure of spelling) the Emperor/Chief Tecumequund. Since I don't have the information right in front of me, I can't spell the name. His daughter, a princess, married an Englishman by the name of Giles Brent. Giles Brent's sister, Margaret Brent, was the first woman to practice law in this country and was Lord Calvert/Baltimore's attorney and acted in his absence. There is a book located somewhere in a southern Maryland libray entitled, "The Indian Princess." It is the only copy I am aware of. It is the story of my great-grandmother's life (Tecumequund's daughter). I also have her Indian name at home -- can never pronouce. Her "Christian" name is Mary.

Great, great, grandfather(forgot how many greats)was an endentured servant and married and left with a blackfoot indian squa from the plantation that he was a slave at. He says they came from Montana. Anyways I wanted to thank you brothers for coming today at the Carroll Community College. The wet rain made me sick. I have a very bad heart condition, I don't have much time left. My wife didn't want me to leave the house today. I was sitting at home and heard a drum. Rythmic, the beat stayed the same. (I was so bad off I thought it to be death) Came and went, very, very distant. I thought it strange. I felt compelled to come to school which is miles away, against my better judgement. Amazingly that was the drum!! (The sound was the same!!) I sat in the front row. The drum you used in the dance seemed to flow through me and into my heart. My heart wasn't beating right, but as the drum kept
